Frequently Asked Questions

DO I NEED TO BE BASED IN SINGAPORE TO BE ELIGIBLE TO ENTER?

Yes. This is an Singapore-based competition, and is open exclusively to Singapore-based designers and firms.

DOES MY PROJECT NEED TO BE LOCATED IN SINGAPORE?

Yes. The LBDA is about honouring the best projects and talent in Singapore. There is one exception to the rule: those entering for the Interior Design Firm of the Year category can choose to submit one or more overseas project as an example, to show the scope of work that they do.

CAN I SUBMIT A PROJECT THAT IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION?

No. All projects must be 100% finished works at the time of entry submission.

IS THERE A TIME PERIOD IN WHICH MY PROJECT MUST HAVE BEEN COMPLETED?

Yes. Your project must have been completed between 1 January 2017 and 15 April 2018. The exception: Projects submitted under the category Interior Design Firm of the Year can be from earlier years, but it is highly recommended that at least one falls under the period stipulated above.

Speculative or unfinished projects, client pitches and/or mock-ups will not be considered valid. Projects that were already submitted for the inaugural Lookbox Design Awards 2017 will also not be considered valid.

HOW MANY IMAGES CAN I SUBMIT?

You can submit a maximum of 8 – 9 images per entry. We highly recommend that you also include a floor plan (it counts as 1 image).

Entrants submitting for the Interior Design Firm of the Year category can submit up to 12 images.

WHAT SIZE DO THE IMAGES NEED TO BE?

Please ensure your images are of good quality. We suggest 1800 x 1200 pixels in landscape orientation, and file size no larger than 10mb per image. We will NOT accept pixellated images.

MUST MY IMAGES BE IN LANDSCAPE FORMAT?

No, we also accept portrait format, but if you have some landscape-format shots available, please include them.

WHAT FILE TYPE DO THE IMAGES NEED TO BE?

Please submit your images in jpg or png format.

WHAT TEXT DO I NEED TO SUBMIT?

The requested text descriptions vary slightly across the categories. The entry form asks for basic details (such as interior design firm’s name, project title, and project location – up to 250 characters each), as well as more descriptive paragraphs (up to 10,000 characters each). To view the entry form for each category, you can register to enter at lbda.awardstack.com and view the online entry form for each category with no commitment to lodge an entry.

CAN I SAVE A DRAFT OF MY ENTRY AND RETURN TO IT LATER?

Yes. You can return to and edit your entry at any point up to the entry deadline of 11:59pm on Thursday 12 July 2018 (SGT). Your entry will not be complete until final payment has been processed and your entry submitted.

WHAT’S THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION?

See above!

DO I NEED TO GET PERMISSION FROM MY CLIENT/PHOTOGRAPHER/ETC TO ENTER?

Yes. By entering the LBDA, you concede that you have permission from all involved parties pertaining to your project/s – including clients, copyright holders and collaborators – to allow Indesign Media Asia Pacific and its partners to publish your work across any of its print and digital platforms/brands, as well as any associated promotional materials, without limitation for awards purposes only.
